You Miss Sleep, You Lose the Game

A well-known stereotype is that gamers sacrifice a good night’s sleep for gaming.

That stereotype was in mind of the people in SS Pharmaceuticals, the organisers of Sleep Fighter, a tournament that focuses on advocating proper rest time.

The game featured in the tournament was Street Fighter 6 (hence the name Sleep Fighter), and a bunch of professional players participated last August in Japan. The catch here was that the players would wear a monitoring device that would keep track of the hours of sleep per player for a week before the tournament. If anyone was caught sleeping less than six hours per night, they would have points deducted.

The tournament was part of a larger project that tried to bring more attention to the benefits of proper sleeping.

While we find monitoring players on a daily basis a bit unusual, we support the idea of taking care of yourself with some good rest when needed. After all, even great fighters need to take a break every now and then.
